MEET KARINE

Karine’s record of commitment to the newsroom started early in her academic career. Her reporting and producing skills flourished at California State University, Northridge where she anchored and reported for Valley View News, the university’s newscast. Karine graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Science.

Upon graduation, Karine started working at ABC Network News in the summer of 2018. She worked in the Los Angeles Bureau as a “Digital News Assistant”. She assisted in producing for Good Morning America and contributed to ABC's World News Tonight with David Muir, 20/20 and Nightline. Karine went on to shadow network correspondents, and learned to produce domestic and international stories while meeting intensive deadlines. Her time at ABC molded her into a journalist who thrives off deadlines without compromising the quality of her stories.

After a year at ABC, Karine accepted a job as Multi-Media Journalist in Omaha, Nebraska. She packed up her bags and moved to the Midwest to work for CBS affiliate, KMTV 3 News Now. Karine was a morning reporter who loved engaging in her community, and never took for granted the privilege she had of telling others people's stories. Her time in Omaha made Karine appreciate local news and community journalism. She covered many types of stories, including community events, crime, features, and investigative pieces. Karine pitched stories daily and shot, edited, and turned over packages every day.

Since working for two major media outlets, Karine feels confident in her news ability, and feels she has learned every functionality of the newsroom. Karine considers herself to be a jack of all trades when it comes to all things news.
